CANCELLED! Release into the Landscape session 4 with Helen Johnson -Think like a professional artist

Updated: Sep 23, 2020

Session 4 with Helen Johnson Artist

PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Alston House Hotel – Tuesday 29th September 2020. 2pm to 4pm

Please note – you do not need to have been to previous events to participate, just bring work in progress and we will take it from there.

Hopefully by now, you should have some idea of what you are painting – or perhaps you have even begun/ finished your painting.

In this session, held at Alston House – we will look at how to display your work to show it at its best, and to highlight the theme you have chosen. If you are not yet at this stage, the session will also include how to develop your painting into a finished piece, that will be exhibition ready!

You will need to bring your art work with you as well as any preparatory studies, sketches etc and any materials you wish to use on the day. It will be a practical session, where I, Helen Johnson, will guide you through the development of your painting or mounting/ presentation of your work.

You will be encouraged to develop your creativity with the exhibition in mind – with an inspirational discussion on what constitutes a successful exhibition, and how your work relates to others and to the exhibition.

In the meantime, I was recently reading an article from the Royal Academy magazine, where they asked a variety of people connected with art which art movement they would join. I found it to be a really useful exercise, not least because you need to have a better understanding of art movements to be able to answer honestly and so may need to Google some movements! With that in mind, I would like to throw that out there to whoever is reading this the following questions:

If you had to join an art movement, what would it be and why?

What does this decision tell you about the work you are doing at present?

Is it true to your values, thoughts and feelings, or have you lost track of what your art is about?

I look forward to seeing you at Alston House Hotel on Tuesday 29th September at 2pm to 4pm
